Spots & Stripes Singles League

What you need to know

 

Eligibility:

a) Any person aged 15 years or over is eligible to enter. Players under 18 must have parental supervision during ALL matches, and matches must be completed by 9pm due to licensing restrictions.

b) All participants in the singles league should be prepared to play at least two matches per month and have sufficient availability.

Entry Fee:

This will be £45.  All entry fees go towards the prize pot. All fees to be paid in to the league account, no cash will be accepted. Anyone that has not paid by the deadline will not be entered into the league.

The entrance fee is non-refundable after the start of the league.

The league:

It is division based with promotions and relegations that allows the divisions to be as competitive as possible. Newcomers will be placed in the division we believe represents their ability.

You will play each opponent once in the season.

Divisions sizes will be no greater than 12, to allow 2 seasons every 12 months.

League format:

Matches can be played Sundays to Thursdays.  Any game going over the 2 hours allowed may need to pay for the additional table time. Please remember the club has some very busy times and your table may have a booking scheduled after your 2 hours.

 

There will be a 2-week window given for the matches to be played.

Matches to be arranged by the players on WhatsApp or text.

Postponements:

Given the flexibility on arranging matches, postponements will only be accepted in extreme circumstances. If a postponement is requested, the player must rearrange the game before the following match is played. Failure to do so will result in a loss and average points being awarded to the opponent. If neither player has attempted to arrange the game both players will receive zero points.

Anyone failing to play 2 scheduled matches will be removed from the league and will not be eligible to play in the following season.

Table Costs:

These will be at the reduced rate of £5 per player per match, this is for 2 hours match time.  This is to be paid at the bar prior to the match.

If a game is cancelled and you have booked a table, please cancel it in good time.

Match format: Lag to decide who breaks first, it is then alternate breaks.

All legs are to be played.

Each division will have a designated number of frames ranging from 15 to 11 design to make them 2-hour matches.

Each frame counts as a point. The winner will receive 2 further points for the win.

Results sheets: These are currently posted to the leagues Facebook page and should be posted by the winning player. The losing player must post it if the winner does not within 24 hours. Failure to submit a result will means the match is void and both players will receive zero points.

It is the responsibility of both players to ensure that the scorecard is completed correctly, and a digital copy (photograph) is kept for validation in case of irregularities.

League Tables: We looking to use CueScore for the coming season. If you do not have a profile on there, please create one, alternately we will create one for you.

Promotion and Relegation:

a) The top three players in each division will be in the promotion zone. The bottom three players in each division will be in the relegation zone.

b) Being in the promotion zone will most likely mean promotion to the next division, but this is not guaranteed. Players in the promotion zone will be ranked above the players in the relegation zone of the division above. If there is a restructure of the league due a to rise or fall in numbers, then this will be based on the ranking and promotion may not be given.

c) Being in the relegation zone will most likely mean relegation to the lower division, but this is not guaranteed. Players in the relegation zone will be ranked below the players retained in the division below. If there is a restructure of the league due to a rise or fall in numbers, then this will be based on the ranking and relegation may not happen.

Amendments: The committee reserves the right to amend these rules at any time. All league participants will be notified of any revisions before they come into force.
