League Games
Premier, Division 1, and Division 2 play 15 games per league match
Division 3 plays 10 games per match.
Matches should start at 8pm.
If a team has not turned up by 8.15pm the first game can be claimed. A further game can be claimed for every 15 minutes that the away team is late. Please use commonsense when applying this rule as the committee may over-rule any claims made.
The Away team breaks in the first game with the break alternating thereafter.
You cannot play more than once in each group of 5 games
You cannot play the same opponent more than once

If you only have 4 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 5, 10 & 15
If you only have 3 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 4, 5, 9, 10, 14,15

Transfer of Players

If a player wishes to transfer from a team they have already signed for to another team, they need to get both team captains to send a letter requesting this to the League Secretary.

The Secretary will advise the teams that the transfer is accepted.

The player transferring may not play in the Knockout or Sponsors Cup games for the new team.

A charge of £5 is incurred for the transfer of players. The fee should be attached to the letter requesting the transfer or sent in with the results card.

Signing of New Players

Teams may sign on new players at any time during the season.

Players signed on after December 31st will incur a charge of £5. All moneys should be either given to a Committee representative or attached to a result card when the new player is added.

You do not need to request the addition of a new player (unless it is a transfer), but please indicate on the result card when a new player is added.

Dismissal of Teams

If a team does not turn up to 3 matches without very good reason they risk being dismissed from the league for the rest of the season and declined admission for future seasons.

Competitions

Only players entered on the competition registration form will be put into the draw for competitions (except; captains and secretaries, champion of champions, and memorial cup)

Only if a “bye” exists in a competition can players be added after the draw is done. This is at the discretion of the league committee.

Any players wishing to be added after the draw must contact the secretary.

Doubles, Mixed Doubles Competition

Substitutions to one player can only be made in the very first round.

Once a player is substituted the original player cannot participate in future rounds.

All changes must be advised to the secretary before the competition starts.

Captain and Secretaries Competition

Only the captain and secretary nominated on the team registration form can enter the Captains and Secretaries competition. Absolutely no substitutions!

If your captain or secretary changes within a season please make sure that the league secretary knows in good time.

Late changes to either position may result in failure to be entered into these competitions. The committee’s decision is final.

Returning of Results Cards

At least one result card must be received after each league match. Cards must be fully completed and signed by all the players.

Cards must be returned by first post on the Tuesday after the league match. If both teams complete a card there is a better chance that at least one will be received on time.

If a card is not received on time 2 points will be deducted for teams playing 15 games and 1 point will be deducted for teams playing 10 games.
Please make sure cards contain the player’s full name clearly printed (nicknames are not accepted).

Any names that are not legible will not be awarded ranking points.

It is the responsibility of the captain to make sure that the results cards arrive on time and properly completed.

This year the results cards have additional columns down either side of the player’s names. See example below.

The captains are to fill in the number of games each player has won and lost against the player’s name where it first appears on the card.

Both the home and away player results need to be completed on each card just in case only one is received.

Notes:
You cannot play more than once in each group of 5 games
You cannot play the same opponent more than once
Away team breaks first, then alternately

No Show or Cancellation of Match

Any team that needs to cancel a game must do so in good time.

The cancelling team captain is responsible for letting the opposing team captain know the game will be cancelled.

The team making the cancellation also needs to let the league secretary know.

A cancelled match can only be re-arranged providing it is played before the Thursday following the allotted fixture date.

If the opposing team is unable to make an alternative date within this 6 day window they will be awarded the match.

Failure to play a match will result in the opposing team being awarded either a 10-0 or 7-0 win depending on the number of frames normally played (15 or 10).

In the event that a match is cancelled or a team does not turn up, the team that was available to play must return a results card listing the names of their players that were available to play.

The players listed will be awarded their individual win(s) and average ranking points. See example results card below

Teams Short of Players “BYE”

A team can play with a minimum of 3 players. The vacant players are filled with a BYE.

Do not put player’s names in when they are not present as this will falsify the rankings. Teams and Players will be penalized if found doing this.

If a team turns up short of players a “BYE” is put in where no player exists.

Any player that plays a BYE will be awarded average ranking points but no individual win.

It is very important if you are trying to obtain either the most wins or a high ranking position that you do not play a BYE.

If you only have 4 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 5, 10 & 15
If you only have 3 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 4, 5, 9, 10, 14,15

Knockout and Sponsors Cup

In these best off 11 (KO Cup) or 15 (Sponsors) matches, where they are only played until one team has won either 6 or 8 games, all 10 or 15 places must be filled in.

As shown in the card below, the last 3 players on each team did not get to play but will be awarded average ranking points provided they are filled in on the card

If you only have 4 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 5, 10 & 15
If you only have 3 players the BYE's are ALWAYS put in matches 4, 5, 9, 10, 14,15

You do not collect the point won from a bye until it needs to be played. i.e. If a team turns up with 4 players the opposing teams does not start the game 3 nil up.

Notes:

The draw is done blind

You can only play once in each set of 5 games

Since the draw is blind you could play the same player twice.

Toss a coin for the first break, and then it alternates.

In the event of a draw after 10 games are played in the Knockout Cup, each team puts forward a player for a single frame decider.

Foul Snooker

IN SIMPLE TERMS:-

If a foul snooker happens you receive 2 shots and can nominate ONE of your opponent’s balls from where the white is, or pick the white up and still have 2 shots from behind the line.

If after you picked up the white you are still foul snookered from EVERYWHERE behind the line you can ask for a foul snooker and can nominate ONE of your opponent’s balls.

If you are not foul snookered from EVERYWHERE behind the line after picking up the white, you only have 2 shots (no free ball)

Whether you pick up the white or not you always have 2 shots.

Please note that you can only nominate one of your opponent’s balls as your own. You cannot nominate one and pot another.

Below are the rules for a foul snooker taken from the EPA website. There is a link under rules.
  1. Definition: When an opponent plays a foul shot and this results in the incoming player being snookered, the incoming player is deemed to be Foul Snookered.
  2. If a player believes that a Foul Snooker exists, the player may ask the referee for a ruling.
  3. If the referee rules that a foul snooker exists, the player initially has the following options:-
    1. Play the Cue Ball from where it lies. {see (4)(a) below} OR
    2. Ask the referee to remove the Cue Ball so as to allow the player to play from Baulk. {see (4)(b) below }
  4.
    1.
      1. If the player chooses to play the Cue Ball from where it lies, the player may, if the player wishes, nominate the Eight Ball (but see (5) below) or any one of the opponent's Colour. The player can nominate a particular ball by verbal description of it or its position or by pointing at it. The Referee may ask for further information if any doubt exists as to which ball has been nominated.
      2. Once nominated, a ball is deemed to "become one" of the player's Colour for the first shot of the first visit. The player may then play any of the player's own Colour or the nominated ball. If any of the player's Colour and/or the nominated ball are potted, the player continues with the first visit.
    2. If the player chooses to play the Cue Ball from Baulk, a Foul Snooker may no longer exist. In this case the procedure under the heading (E) Playing from Baulk (2)(d) &(2)(e) should be followed. If the referee decides that a Foul Snooker does still exist, the player may nominate a ball and follow the procedure in (4)(a) above.
  5. If the Eight Ball is nominated it may be played, but potting it will mean loss of frame.
  6. If a player is "On" the Eight Ball and Foul Snookered:- The player may play a nominated ball or the Eight Ball and pot either or both of these balls, directly or indirectly, in any pocket or pockets.
Assuming the player does not commit a foul:-
                           i.      If neither the Eight Ball or the nominated ball is potted, the player's first visit is complete.
ii.     If the nominated ball is potted and the Eight Ball is not, the player continues with the first visit.
iii.    If the nominated ball and the Eight Ball are potted, the player wins the frame.
iv.    If the Eight Ball is potted and the nominated ball is not, the player wins the frame.
  1. If a Foul Snooker exists and the Cue Ball is touching an opponent's ball or balls, the player may, but is not obliged to, nominate one of those touching balls.
